Description of the city

Villa de Leyva is a municipality located in the department of Boyacá, 40 km west of Tunja, the capital of the department.
It is characterized by conserving its colonial style architecture, and by its landscapes that vary from paramo zone with births and water reserves to the desert area. It also stands out its main square which is one of the largest of Boyacá measures 1.4 hectares, is surrounded by colonial buildings and all cobbled.
It is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Colombia, being one of the most important tourist destinations in the country.

Activities to do there.

The alternatives offered by Villa de Leyva are diferents, here we tell you some:

1. "La casa de barro" o "la casa de terracota", was designed as a dwelling, but its unique and different architecture, it became a tourist attraction.

2. Dinosaur Park "Gondava", it is a theme park, where you can learn all about  the dinosaurs, also in this place lived some of them for millions of years, fossils are also found and you can even practice the paleontology to discover some fossils on earth.

3. The ostrich farm: it is a place where you can learn all about these animals, you can see how they reproduce,how is the use of their feathers, meat and others. the visit takes aproximately 2 hours.

4. El paso del ángel: It is a good place that you can meet wonderful landscapes that you can see from the rise. you will be standing at the edge of the mountain, with an abyss of 150 meters on one side and on the other 60 meters.. 

5. The Lagoon of Iguaque: it is a natural park where you have the possibility of doing a walk, and be able to see the different species, when you finish you will see the majestic lagoon that was the inspiration for the indigenous legend of Bachue and the beginning of life.

6. Waterfalls the Periquera: it is a natural attraction that is located 15 kilometers from Villa de Leyva. In it you can perform extreme sports such as canopy, torrentism and guided walks in the area. It is a waterfall with more than 15 meters of free fall. 

7. Cave "la Fábrica": It is a natural cave, in tnis place you can practice extreme sports such as caving.
